Three Carinity Education Southside students, Janaya, Kirrah and Felicity attended the Girls Empowerment Day at Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera Army Base.
The girls had the opportunity to experience Defence life for the day, participating in team building, running, swimming, building rafts and doing an over the water obstacle course, all while wearing shoes and in full Army uniform!
Our girls really showed encouragement and coming together as a school, cheering and supporting each other to get through the day.
The Girls Empowerment Day was to demonstrate to young women they are capable of anything.
“It was amazing to see the young women getting out of their comfort zones and giving everything a go” – Laurena
Janaya stated “it was really motivating, inspirational and pushed us to our limits”, “I felt really proud putting on the (army) uniform, like I belonged to something and was a leader” and “It is really hard work swimming in shoes”.
