At Southside we carefully consider the types of support that we can offer both students and staff.
We are pleased to announce that we have now been successful in securing our very own assistance dog.
Our Deputy Principal Lyndsey Sharp, and Youth Worker Lisa Daanen spent a full week with Tracey, from Empower Assistance Dogs in Loganlea where they had to complete a module-based course and undertake some hands-on training.
From Term Two, Tarmac (our very handsome black Labrador) will be gradually introduced to classes and daily life here at Southside, and will be onsite most Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday’s.
Students are aware that they need to ask before patting Tarmac. They also know that we all need to keep the school clean and tidy so that he is not distracted while he works.
