Curriculum

Years 7-10

When new students enter Years 7-10 at Carinity Education Southside, we assess the individual so that we may teach from their point of need with the aim to work them toward age appropriate levels. This is especially helpful for students who may have missed several years of schooling.

All students in these year levels study topics from these subjects drawn from the Australian Curriculum:

  • English;
  • Mathematics;
  • Science;
  • History;
  • Geography;
  • Health and Physical Education;
  • Visual Art; and
  • STEM (Year 7 -9)

Students in Years 7 to 9 study some of these subjects in an integrated manner, through focus on particular themes.

Years 11-12

All students in the Senior School study core subjects in line with the Queensland Curriculum & Assessment Authority (QCAA), plus a range of elective Vocational Education and Training (VET) and Applied subjects. Carinity Education Southside offers six Applied subjects and has six Vocational Certificates on scope.

For more information about these subject and courses please view our

Student and Carer Handbook and our 2022 VET Student Handbook

“All the staff welcomed me and my son with open arms and friendly faces, especially with the creche. There is way more one-on-one time with the teachers and youth workers, and they work with me. The difference for me is that they make me believe I can graduate with lots of support and friends around me.”
