Welcome

Situated in the Brisbane suburb of Sunnybank, Carinity Education Southside is an independent all-girls’ school from Grade 7 to 12 offering a supportive learning environment for young women who have found mainstream schooling unsuitable.

Carinity Education Southside is governed by The Baptist Union of Queensland and is one of five schools operated by Carinity.  At Carinity we believe in building communities where you feel secure and at home – a place where you are included, heard and valued.

Since 1949, driven by our Christian values, we have been providing communities of care, compassion and respect.

Our Christian values underpin our organisational values of Compassion, Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Team Work, and Engaging Positively.

We offer a culture of consistent, supportive and trusted relationships within a practice of “unconditional positive regard at all times”. We are here to walk alongside students in times of need and encourage them to achieve their dreams.

By providing practical education with individual learning support and a range of life skills, we help to provide purpose and direction to the lives of young women and pathways to become positive and contributing members of the community.

We build a strong sense of community among students and in the local area.  Culture is honoured and celebrated, creating connection and a sense of belonging.  We create learning experiences about culture and diversity to build understanding and knowledge. Forty percent of students identify as Indigenous or Torres Strait Islander and they are supported by a large group of aunties on staff, and elders from the community.

Students are able to achieve the Queensland Certificate of Education through the program offered at Southside.   As well as the opportunity to study nationally accredited Vocational Education courses at school or at TAFE.
