Our History

Shalom Christian College was founded in 1992 by visionary members of Congress, the Indigenous arm of the Uniting Church.

In 2018 Carinity purchased Shalom Christian College and were delighted to be continuing the operation of the school in 2019.

In 2019 Carinity launched the high school with a Year 7 cohort, catering for students from Prep to Year 7.  In 2020 we expanded this to include year 8 and will continue to expand into the senior years of schooling.  By 2024 we will be offering all grades from Prep to Year 12.

In 2021 Shalom Christian College was officially renamed Carinity Education Shalom and continues to thrive and grow, with student numbers doubling since 2019.

Carinity (formerly Queensland Baptist Care) has been making a real difference in people’s lives since 1949 through comprehensive and integrated community services. These include the provision of care to the frail aged, education services, shelters for homeless youth, helping families and young people through difficult times, support for people with disability, retirement lifestyle communities and chaplaincy support at hospitals.

“The best part of my day is greeting each student as they enter the school gate. It is heart-warming to see so many smiling faces each morning.  Students learn best when they are happy and actually want to be at school. My staff are committed to ensuring that each child feels; loved by God, valued, safe and has a strong sense of belonging. That is the spirit of Shalom. Our students call it “The Shalom Way”.
