Each year, senior students from Carinity Education Glendyne travel from Hervey Bay to Brisbane to experience Queensland’s capital city.
The annual three-day immersion to Brisbane for Year 11 and 12 students is a fantastic opportunity for the young people to enjoy a range of activities and culinary delights.
This year’s experience began on arrival at the students’ accommodation – apartments in Woolloongabba on the outskirts of the CBD – where the guests made use of the gym, sauna and rooftop pool.
The students then navigated public transport into Southbank where they explored the tourism hub of Brisbane, before travelling by CityCat along the Brisbane River to Howard Smith Wharves and North Quay.
Exploring the new Skydeck at Southbank – with its views across the city – was a highlight, as was the walk back along the Expo 88 trail under city lights.
Day two saw the visitors arrive at Queensland Museum, where they experienced a range of exhibitions and the hands-on SparkLab. Following a ride on the Wheel of Brisbane, taking in the sights of the river precinct, students tested their multicultural taste buds with a Mexican dinner.
The final day involved shopping in Queen Street Mall and a visit to the Dopamine Land exhibit, which features immersive rooms with unique photo opportunities and themed rooms.
