Carinity Education – Gladstone

Curriculum

 

Years 7-10

When new students enter years 7-10 at Carinity Education Gladstone, we work together to identify an individualised pathway to achieve a Queensland Certificate of Education. Our curriculum centres on project- based learning with a focus on well-being, literacy and numeracy.

All students in these year levels study topics from subjects drawn from the Australian Curriculum including:

  • Literacy;
  • Numeracy;
  • History;
  • Geography;
  • Science;
  • Personal Development

They can also select from electives including:

  • Art
  • Hospitality
  • Outdoor Health and Fitness
  • Woodwork
  • Basketball
  • Music

Years 7 and 9 have the opportunity to take the NAPLAN test.

All new enrolments at Carinity Education Gladstone, commence their education in the Transition class. During their time in the Transition class, we complete a number of diagnostic assessments for literacy and numeracy. Results from these diagnostics enable us to accurately place student in the appropriate class group where they will be taught and assessed at a skill level appropriate to their learning needs. Students also complete reading and comprehension assessments to further support their individual learning plans.

Years 11-12

All students in the Senior School study core subjects in line with the Queensland Curriculum & Assessment Authority (QCAA), plus a range of elective Vocational Education and Training (VET) and Study Area Specific (SAS) subjects.
